This Privacy Policy explains how Jesus Interactive Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Jesus Interactive mobile app (the "App"). It describes how the App actually works today.
In plain language:
- We do not sell your personal information.
- There is no email or password login. Your use of the App is tied to a random identifier created on your device.
- Your profile name and photo, journal, prayer notes, favorites, and Ask Jesus conversation history are stored on your device.
- Words you type or speak into AI and voice features are sent to those providers so the feature can work. Please do not treat those chats as a sealed confessional.
- If you publish on the testimony wall, other users and our moderators can see it.
- You can export or delete the data linked to your device from Settings.
By using the App you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Some information is kept only on your device and is not stored on our servers: your display name and profile photo, journal entries, prayer notes, favorites, highlights, saved sermons, app settings, and your Ask Jesus conversation history (kept so you can revisit it). The parts of a conversation needed to answer you are sent to the AI provider each time you send a message (see Section 3), but we do not keep a copy of your conversation history on our servers.
Your Emergency SOS contacts (names and phone numbers) are also stored only on your device until you tap the SOS button (see Section 6).
Deleting the App from your device deletes this on-device information.
Device identifier: The App creates a random device identifier and sends it with requests to our servers. We use it to link your content and history to your device, show you your own posts and plan history, prevent abuse, and delete your data when you ask. We do not ask for your name, email address, or password.
Content you choose to submit: testimonies you publish on the testimony wall, reactions, reports of content, plan history, support reports you send us, and your export and delete requests. If you include a name or other personal details in something you submit, it is stored or processed as part of that content. Please do not include secrets, other people's private information, or medical or financial details.
Usage information: basic events about how the App is used (for example, which features are opened), linked to your device identifier, so we can understand and improve the App. We do not use this for advertising.
Subscription information: your plan and plan changes, including events our subscription provider sends us (such as a cancellation).
Technical and security logs: our hosting provider records standard request logs, and we record security audit entries (for example, denied attempts to reach admin tools, moderation actions, and data-deletion events). These may include the time, the request, its outcome, your IP address, and your device identifier, and are used only for security, reliability, and abuse prevention.
Community Connect: if you use Community Connect, we store the display name you choose, the posts you write, photos you upload, reactions, groups you join or start, people you block, and reports you make, all linked to your device identifier. Your display name, posts, photos, and group names are shown to other members. While Community Connect is open, we also record that you are currently there (a timestamp, kept only for a couple of minutes of activity) so other members can see your display name in a "here now" list; you can turn this off with the dot at the top of Community Connect. Photos are stored with our hosting provider (Vercel Blob) and are publicly reachable by anyone who has the photo's link.
Prayer Watches: if you tap Pray now or commit to a Prayer Watch, we store which watch, the day, and the country your network address appears to be in (a two-letter country code, never your precise location), linked to your device identifier. We use this only to count how many nations prayed and to show your own commitments. Watch reminders are scheduled on your phone; they are not sent from our servers.
Community Connect homes and friends: you can optionally add details to your Community home (where you live, where you are from, a birthday given only as month and day, family, work, and school). Only you and your friends can see them. Friendships require a request that the other person accepts; we store who is friends with whom (or has asked), linked to device identifiers, and other members only ever see an internal member ID and your display name. Posts can be kept on your home (visible only to you) or shared to the feed (visible to you and your friends). We also store your comments, the posts you save, and stories (a photo and one line, removed automatically from view after 24 hours and deleted from storage when you delete them).
Community Connect side panel: you can add listings (free hand-me-downs, local churches, and home Bible studies). Listings are shown to all members without your name, and we keep which device added each one so you can remove it and so we can moderate reports. Please do not include phone numbers, addresses, or links. If you add a birthday to your home, your friends see it (month and day) in their Birthdays list. Ads shown in Community Connect are chosen by us, are not based on tracking you, and can be turned off in the panel.
Community Connect live video: if you go live (or watch a friend's live), your camera and microphone audio (when you broadcast) or the stream (when you watch) pass through our live-video provider, LiveKit, to your friends. Lives are visible only to you and your friends, are not recorded by us, and end when you stop or after four hours. We keep only a short record of each live (its kind, title, who hosted it, and when it started and ended) for moderation.
Housing listings: if you post a rental or roommate listing, your display name and a link to your Community home are shown with it so interested people can send you a friend request. We do not verify listings or the people behind them.
When you use an AI or voice feature, the information needed for that request is sent to the provider behind it:
- Ask Jesus and the Gospel Translator: your message text and limited recent conversation history go to xAI (Grok).
- Daily Devotions and the Sermon & Bible Study Writer: your prompt text goes to Anthropic (Claude).
- Voice input and spoken replies: your recorded speech, or the reply text to be spoken, goes to ElevenLabs.
- Live Jesus video avatar: your microphone audio (and your camera video, only if you turn your camera on) goes to Tavus, which transcribes it, renders the avatar, and speaks its replies. The text of what you say then goes to our servers and on to xAI to write the reply. We do not save avatar calls on our servers.
These providers process the data to return a response and handle it under their own terms, which may include keeping it for a limited time for safety and abuse monitoring. We do not sell your chat content, and we do not use your private conversations to train third-party AI models unless you give separate, explicit opt-in consent, which is never required to use the App. You can choose not to use AI or voice features at all.
We use the information described above to: provide the App's features, including AI and voice features, the testimony wall, Community Connect (posts, photos, groups, reactions, and blocking), reports, plan history, and Emergency SOS; unlock and manage subscriptions and gift plans; moderate reported content; honor export and delete requests; keep the App secure and prevent fraud and abuse; understand how the App is used so we can improve it; respond to support requests; and comply with the law.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not build advertising profiles.
Information linked to your device identifier is stored in a hosted PostgreSQL database (Neon).
When you use the delete option in Settings, the App sends your device identifier and we delete the rows linked to it from our live database, including your posts, reactions, reports, and plan history. You can also export the data linked to your device from Settings.
Deletion does not immediately remove: hosting and security logs already written; backups that have not yet expired; content posted from a different device; copies other people have already saved or shared; requests already sent to an AI or voice provider; or purchase records held by Apple, Google, or RevenueCat.
Community Connect data (your display name, posts, photos, reactions, group memberships and groups you started, blocks, and reports) is included when you use the delete option in Settings, and the photos you uploaded are deleted from storage at the same time. You can also delete an individual post from its menu. Prayer Watch commitments and prayer records linked to your device are deleted too. Your Community home details, friendships, comments, saved posts, and stories are deleted too. Listings you added are deleted too. Records of lives you hosted are deleted too.
The Emergency SOS feature is optional. Your emergency contacts' names and phone numbers stay on your device until you tap the SOS button. At that moment only, the App captures a single location snapshot and sends it, together with your contacts' phone numbers and the alert message, to our servers so we can deliver the alert by text message through Twilio. Location is never collected in the background or tracked continuously.
We keep a minimal record of each alert sent: your device identifier, the time, and the location coordinates. We do not store your contacts' names or phone numbers.
We use these providers to run the App: Vercel (hosting and logs); Neon (database); xAI and Anthropic (AI features); ElevenLabs (voice features); Tavus (the live video avatar, including the audio and any camera video you send during a call); RevenueCat (subscription status); Resend (delivering support reports and Community Connect report notices to our inbox); Twilio (Emergency SOS text messages); Live365 (the 24/7 Praise and Worship radio stream); and Apple and Google (app distribution and payments). Each receives only what it needs to provide its service to us.
We may also disclose information when required by law or legal process, to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this Policy continues to apply to your information.
Photo storage: photos you post to Community Connect are stored by Vercel (Vercel Blob), which also hosts this App's servers.
Live video: LiveKit carries the audio and video of Community Connect lives between you and your friends.
Radio: the 24/7 Praise and Worship radio is streamed to your device by Live365. When you listen, Live365 receives the standard connection details any stream receives, such as your IP address and device type, and may count listeners; this is covered by Live365's own privacy policy. The radio is free to use and does not require an account. To show the cover of the song playing, the App asks Apple's public music search for the artwork using only the song title and artist, not any information about you.
Payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play); we never receive your payment card details. Our subscription provider, RevenueCat, receives your device identifier and your purchase and subscription status from Apple or Google so your plan can be unlocked and kept current. Apple's and Google's privacy policies govern how they handle your payment information.
A small number of authorized operators can use protected admin tools to review reported content (including Community Connect posts, photos, and groups) and take action on it, such as hiding or removing it and restricting the member who posted it. Reports about a Community Connect post are also emailed to our support inbox with the post's text and photo link. Failed attempts to reach those tools and moderation actions are recorded in audit logs. Ordinary users have no admin access.
You can: use the App without creating an account; export the data linked to your device from Settings; delete the data linked to your device from Settings; choose not to post on the testimony wall or use Community Connect (you are asked for a display name only when you first post); block members and report posts; delete your own Community Connect posts at any time; and choose not to use AI, voice, or Emergency SOS features.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To get a copy of the Community Connect posts, photos, and display name linked to your device, or to have them corrected or removed, email us (see Section 16). To make any other request, email us (see Section 16) and include the device identifier shown on the export or delete screen if you can, since that is how your data is linked.
California residents: under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA), you have the right to know, delete, and correct personal information and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland: we process your information to provide the App you ask for (contract), for our legitimate interests in keeping it secure and improving it, with your consent where required, and to meet legal obligations.
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the higher age of digital consent where you live), and they may not use it, including Community Connect, where other members can see what you post. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete the data we can link to their device.
Spiritual conversation in this App is not a substitute for a parent, pastor, counselor, or emergency help.
Information linked to your device stays in our live database until you delete it or we remove it for moderation, abuse, or legal reasons, or if the App shuts down. Hosting and audit logs are kept for our providers' standard retention periods unless needed for an active security investigation, and backups expire on our database provider's schedule. Emergency SOS alert records are kept as described in Section 6. Audio and video you send during a live video avatar call is handled by Tavus under its own retention practices, not ours. Information stored only on your device stays there until you delete it or the App. Community Connect posts, photos, and your display name stay until you delete them (individually, or by deleting your data in Settings) or we remove them for moderation reasons. Live audio and video are not stored; the short record of each live is deleted with your data.
We protect information with encryption in transit (HTTPS) for all communication with our servers, short-lived access tokens, rate limiting, and restricted, audit-logged admin access. Our providers' API keys are kept on our servers and are never included in the App. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you use the App from outside the United States, your information may be processed in a country whose data-protection laws differ from yours.
We will update the "Last Updated" date when we change this Policy. When we make material changes, we will ask you to review and accept the updated Policy in the App before you continue. If we ever add accounts, new kinds of data collection, or new providers, we will update this Policy first.

For privacy requests, please put "Privacy Request" in the subject line and include enough information for us to find the data linked to your device.
We aim to respond within a few business days. If you are in crisis, please see our AI Disclosure for emergency resources rather than waiting for a reply here.
If you message another member, whether about a Community Connect listing or as a general message to a friend, the message text is stored on our servers, linked to your device identifier, so the other member can read and reply. The other member sees your display name, never your device identifier. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted: they can be read by our moderation systems and by our team if reported. Messages are screened by automated tools, may be reviewed by our team if reported, and are removed if you use the delete option in Settings. If you block a member, or they block you, no further messages can be sent between you. Do not share information in a message that you would not want the other member to keep.
By checking the box for this Privacy Policy and continuing, you confirm that you have read and understood how Jesus Interactive handles your information.
